Kashmir. The two syllables that make every North Indian's heart skip. And yet, for most people in Punjab, Chandigarh, and Haryana, Kashmir remains a dream deferred — a destination they've scrolled past a thousand times on Instagram, promised themselves a hundred times, but never quite planned.
This guide is the one that finally makes it happen. We'll tell you exactly what a Kashmir trip costs from Punjab right now, which itinerary gives you the most for your money, when to go, and — most importantly — why Voyage-Ed's packages are priced significantly lower than what the major aggregators are charging.
Right now is the best time to go
May and June 2026 — Kashmir's valleys are green, temperatures are 12–25°C, all roads are open, and the Gulmarg Gondola is fully operational. This is the sweet spot before the monsoon and before the peak summer rush of school holidays. Book now for the next 4–6 weeks.
The Price Comparison — What Competitors Charge vs Voyage-Ed
Before we get into itineraries, let's be completely transparent about pricing. We checked what the major Indian travel platforms are currently charging for Kashmir packages from Punjab and Chandigarh.
Kashmir 3N/4D Package — Market Price Comparison (May 2026)
This is not a promotional claim — it is a direct market comparison. Voyage-Ed's Kashmir packages are priced ₹1,776 below the cheapest major aggregator for an equivalent 3-night, 4-day package from Punjab. The same hotel quality, same sightseeing, same transfers — just without the platform commission markup that aggregators add on top.
We are able to offer this because we work directly with local operators in Srinagar and do not add an intermediary markup. When you book with Voyage-Ed, you're talking directly to us — not a call centre that resells packages it bought from someone else.

How to Reach Kashmir from Punjab and Chandigarh
From Punjab and Chandigarh, most travellers fly via Delhi to Srinagar. IndiGo, Air India and SpiceJet operate multiple daily Delhi to Srinagar flights — the flight is only 1 hour 20 minutes. Chandigarh to Srinagar direct flights are also available seasonally. Voyage-Ed arranges flight bookings as part of all packages at the best available fares.
By road, Chandigarh to Srinagar is approximately 670 km via the NH44 through Jammu and the Banihal Tunnel — around 14–16 hours. This is a scenic drive but time-consuming. Most travellers from Punjab prefer flying and save the road journey for within Kashmir (where having a private cab is essential).
Flight tip from Punjab
Book Delhi to Srinagar flights at least 21 days in advance for the best fares. One-way tickets during May-June typically range from ₹3,500–₹5,500 on IndiGo if booked 3+ weeks early. Last-minute fares can spike to ₹9,000–₹12,000. Voyage-Ed books flights as part of all packages and monitors fares for you.
Best Time to Visit Kashmir from Punjab in 2026
May–June (right now): The green season. Valley floors are lush, temperatures are ideal at 12–25°C, all mountain roads are open, Gondola is fully operational, and there are no school holiday crowds until mid-June. This is our top recommendation for the current booking window.
September–October: Chinar trees turn gold and red. The Mughal Gardens in autumn are among the most photographed landscapes in India. Temperatures start dropping but remain comfortable. October is peak season for photographers and couples.
December–February: Gulmarg becomes a ski resort. Heavy snow, cosy kangri fire, pink salt tea, and a completely different Kashmir from the summer version. Ideal for those who want the snow experience without going to Manali.
July–August: Monsoon. Roads can be disrupted, some visibility issues, but prices drop significantly and the landscapes are dramatically green. Adventurous travellers love it.

What Makes Kashmir Worth It — The Honest Truth
Kashmir does not try to impress you. It does not need to. The moment your flight descends into Srinagar and you see the valley laid out below — the blue of Dal Lake, the green of the rice fields, the white of the mountains behind — something shifts. You understand, immediately and viscerally, why they call it Heaven on Earth.
The Shikara ride at sunrise on Dal Lake is not a tourist activity — it is a genuine moment of stillness that most Indian city dwellers never experience. Waking up on a houseboat to the sound of water under the floor and a cup of Kashmiri noon chai placed quietly by your door is not Instagram content. It is the kind of memory that stays with you for decades.
Gulmarg in May is not what you expect. The snow is gone from the lower slopes but the Gondola still takes you to Apharwat Peak where it is fully snow-covered, the views extend to Nanga Parbat on a clear day, and the silence at altitude is the most complete silence most people will ever experience.
Voyage-Ed advantage — direct operator pricing
We work directly with local cab operators, hoteliers, and houseboat owners in Srinagar — not through aggregators. This means our ₹8,499 package includes the same hotel quality and sightseeing as packages priced at ₹10,275–₹11,988 on major platforms. The ₹1,776 difference is pure platform markup that you do not need to pay.
